Repeat Ingrediants?

nunzio04's picture

How do I list repeat ingrediants in a recipe that has Filling, Crust etc. I know how to breatk out the ingrediants based on the post I read here on the forum, but it does not mention repeats. I worked around using abbreviation, but is there a better way?

Thanks.

re: repeat ingredients

nunzio04,

As mentioned, we've gone ahead and put the fix in to allow duplicate ingredients. You should be good to go.

Let us know if that works for you.

Thanks

Thanks, this did work for me. YEAH!

Although it brought up another question... I cannot seem to edit in the Ingredient field after the first save. I went in to correct the recipe in question with the duplicate ingredients and could not update in that field successfully.

So to try it another way, I went on to enter a new recipe with duplicate ingredients, it worked, but then after the first save, I had edits (spelling errors) in the Ingredient field and it would not update. I can update in the quantity and units fields successfully, but not the ingredient field.

I am really trying to use this system, I have a big project to do and I am truly interested in having your website work for me :)

Thanks again.

re: repeat ingredients

Hey nunzio04, good catch!

Fixing the repeat ingredients, we missed the "change existing ingredient update" test case. Problem fixed, you can now properly change an existing ingredient and save the update.

Try it now and let us know if it works for you.

And let us know if there's anything we can help you with on your project. We're very interested in helping our members succeed with their recipe and cookbook projects. :)

re: repeat ingredients?

As mentioned, duplicate ingredient descriptions within the same recipe are not currently allowed. In the meantime, we usually suggest appending one or more asterisks (*) at the end of the description to differentiate similar/like ingredient entries such as ...

  • extra virgin olive oil *
  • extra virgin olive oil **

It's not ideal (and not exactly beautiful), but a workaround for now.

This is an issue that we plan on fixing in an upcoming update. The question does seem to be coming up more frequently, so check back in a few days. We're going to put this fix in now and you'll be able to enter duplicate ingredients in the same recipe.

Hope that helps.
