December, 2025….Pasta Extruder Demo with brother Jim

My brother Jimmie has expressed an interest in the Philips Pasta Extruder machine that I sometimes use. I use it to make short macaroni shapes like shells,rigatoni or elbows. It is very quick and easy to use. The pasta is thicker than I like, but to make short pasta by hand, like penne, is meticulous and time consuming. I've been experimenting with several pasta extruder machines and have settled on the Philips 7000,

Jimmie came over the week before Joan and I headed off to Florida. We made two batches of pasta and then I sent him home with my machine as I won't be using it for 3 or 4 months while we're in Florida.

You have to be really careful with the consistency of your 'dough' in this machine and I messed up the first batch. We were still able to make 2 batches successfullly. One of the benefits of this machine is you get a batch in about 30 minutes and you can cook it 30 minutes later. Jimmy was able to take his two batches home for later cooking.

As of February 2026, I haven't heard back from him about him using the machine. He did mention that one of the boys (Jim Jr) was coming over to try it out also.

I also sent him home with a thumb drive that has all the recipes from this site as well as all the family pictures I had collected over the years. I'm pretty sure that at one of the family Thanksgiving dinners we held at Jered's golf course club house, I had enough copies of the CD with the recipes and family pictures for everyone. I sometimes get calls from family asking for a recipe and I direct them to the CD I gave out. Most don't know what I'm talking about! Oh well.
