Christmas Cookie Baking on Nov 23, 2021 with Denielle

Each each, Denielle takes the week of Thanksgiving and spends it with us. Lynder comes with her and if the work schedule allows, Tumeca comes too.  This year, Tumeca coldn't get the time off.

Each year, we spend some of the time making Christmas cookies for the girls to take back to New York. They share them with friends and co-workers. I think Tumeca shars them with her aunts too.

Denielle and I baked this year. I made the Neopolitans on the night before as they have to sit, refrigerated before putting on the chocolate coating. As I did this, Denielle mixed a huge Christmas batch of Butter Balls. We ended up with 9 1/2 dozen! We didn't have enough time to roll and press the Cornstach cookies. So I just pressed them with a fork the way my Mother used to. Denielle iced them with green 10x frosting. We had 4 dozen.

It didn't seem like we had a big enough variety, so we made a batch of thumbprints (2 doz) to go with the rest. Denielle wanted the Cheese cookie that we make with Mom's basic cookie dough. It just so happend that I had 4 dozen in the freezer left over from when we baked last week with Margie and Jessie. Those cookies will travel with Denielle to NY! Thank you Aunt Margie.

PS  Later that same day we went to the cemetery and placed a wreath on the grave of Mom and Dad. Since Uncle Joe is right next to them and Denielle and Uncle Joe had a very special relationship, we placed a wreath for him and sent the picture to Aunt Margie.

On November 26, Joan got up early and mixed a double batch of sugar cookies. Tumeca had asked for them. After breakfast, Maggie and Lynden decorated the cut-outs before baking. Joan also made a batch of Linzer Tarts for Denielle to take with her.
