Description

Pam and I made these when we were little and lived in the apartments in Alexandria, Virginia.  Then we made these with Stephanie when she was old enough to cook.  This recipe has been carried on through the years with all our children.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 tbsp cocoa
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 2 1/2 cups oats, rolling or quick

Instructions

Combine first 4 ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.  Boil for 1-2 minutes.  Add last 3 ingredients and drop by spoonfuls onto either wax paper or aluminum foil (or greased cookie sheet).  Let cool and harden.
