Putting together this cookbook

So I've been tring to put together a cook book for my daughter. My plan was to give it to her last Christmas.(?That worked well lol) So I thought this Christmas would be the year I get it done/ I had high hopes before Thanksgiving when I was looking for all kinds of recipes to use on Thanksgiving day. There are so many things to make and taste and do, I love it. But!!!!! and I do mean a big BUT!!!! I was slightly limited on what I was going to make so I had to be extra diligent in my quest. My family didn't seem to aquire a taste for food outside of the midwest farm cooking. So when I asked all the kids what dish each of them wanted me to make, the answers were: plain corn (nothing weird) the stuffing in the box, plain turkey, normal mashed potatoes, and squash with brown sugar and butter. All of that is fine but I can make that anytime of the eyar. I wanted to make Thanksgiving special. I ended up making a brined turkey which everyone seemed to love, except my daughter who says she doesn't like turkey anyway.oh well) stuffing from a box and homemade cornbread stuffing ( I still have almost all of that left :( ) but the boxed stuff went like wildfire. plain corn with butter, mashed potatoes with butter, cream cheese and half and half (they welcomed that culinary treat lol) and green beans with bacon and onions. All in all 'it was nice to have everyone together even if it was for a short time. I think any experimental dishes I think look good will never go over in this house, "Although I will not stop making new things even if I'm the one eating the leftovers for days lol

So my searcch for recipes will continure and the book will contain a lot of very basic recipes. I'll probably put together another more worldly tasting cookbook together for her in a few years. By worldly I mean I will include some recipes from Iowa or Nebraska lol I don't want their taste buds to freak out lol Baby steps, baby steps

Talk to ya soon
