Adding photos
I've just joined the site, and I'm sure with time I'll understand more of the features. However, I would like to know what the options are for adding photos. I see an opportunity to add one photo to each recipe page. Can you include more than one? Are there other pages like the cover or inside cover that will accommodate photos? I know about the image gallery, but I'm interested in photos that can be printed as a part of a cookbook.
Thanks
re: Adding photos
Hi Antonia,
Great question. We have some limitations with the current recipe book at the moment, but we're right in the middle of a significant upgrade that I think will be what you're looking for. Bottom line, we'll help you get your recipe book figured out.
Currently, the system lets you add photos as you know to the recipe (one per recipe) and to the recipe book (book photo). The recipe book photo is placed on the inside title page, but formating and placement of the photo needs adjustment. You can also attach image files to the recipes and the recipe book itself and and insert these into the body text fields but you need to know how to do a little bit of HTML (this is currently how you would attach more than one photo to a recipe). This is done with a combination of the "file upload" at the bottom of the form and some HTML to place the image file in the body text.
And we don't currently have front and back cover pages.
However the upgrade to the system that I mentioned will include:
* Full GUI editor so you can easily insert and upload images into any text box where you can currently enter text, plus lot's of other great formating just like a word processor.
* Reorganization of the recipe book that will include front cover, back cover, title page, chapters, and chapters can contain pages and recipes. And you'll have the ability to insert and upload mulitple images on any of these recipe book components wherever there are text entry boxes with the GUI editor. So I think this is what you're looking for. It will be very flexible.
We're not quite ready with this new release, so let me ask you what your time frame is to publish your recipe book? If you're in a big hurry, we can turn some of these new features on for you, but you would need to work with us while we finish and test the upgrade. We'd actually like to have a few more folks to help us test, so let me know if you're interested?
Otherwise, if you want to wait for the release to come out (we're shooting for the first of the year), all of the recipes that you're putting in right now will be fine and carry forward.
Let me know whether you'd like to work with the new features while we finish the release (and help us test), or whether you'd prefer to wait for the release to come out, most likely in January?

Hi Bob,
I'd be happy to work with you on the new features. I'm not the expert in the family, I'm just the one organizing the project. However, I've been learning the program features as I enter recipes and also working with another family member on the photo issues. Right now we have a great photo collage for the cover page, and probably a similar collage for the back cover. We'd also consider making full page photos or additional collages for divider/section pages. Of course, more than one photo per recipe page would be ideal.
Just let me know what I can do, and if it's beyond my ability, I'll get my much-younger-helper to explain it to me!
Thanks for the opportunity.
Antonia
PS
I'm happy to send a copy of the collage so that you can see what we're up to.
re: new features
Terrific, I'll contact you by email and get things setup so you can help us with testing the new features.
As I mentioned, new features will let you have ...
So you should be able to accomplish what you've described.
Look for an email from me and we'll get you setup, might be a couple of days. In the meantime, keep going, you're doing great!
Thanks,
Bob
