moving recipes from favorites to own cookbook

I am interested in placing some of the recipes I've found under the "Newest Recipes" and moving them into my group. I've found how to save them to my favorites, but is there a way to copy them and save them into my own group to share with other family members?

re: moving recipes from favorites to own cookbook

Unfortunately, we currently only provide the ability to include your own personal recipes or recipes from the group/s that you belong to in your group's recipe list. But that's a good request and maybe something that we can include in a future enhancement.

For now, here's a slightly less direct way to accomplish what you're after. From your group, you have a blog and a forum that you can use to interact with your other group/family members. You can create a blog post to share links to other recipes that you'd like to share and comment on. Follow these steps to create a blog post and include recipe links ...

  1. Bring you group into view and click on "Create Blog entry" from the group navigation box at top of right-hand sidebar.

  2. Title your blog post something like "Other recipes I think you'll enjoy" or something similar ...

  3. In another browser window or tab, bring up the recipe you'd like to share. With the recipe in view, right click your mouse on the "View" tab and select "Copy shortcut" from the drop-down menu to copy the link to your clipboard (Windows). See the following ...

  4. Back to your blog post, type in something like "here's a recipe for Mediteranean Salad I think you'll enjoy. See the following ...

Then select the recipe title by dragging your mouse cursor from the beginning to the end of the title text while holding your left mouse button down as you drag (Windows). That leaves the recipe selected and highlighted in blue as shown above.

  5. Next, with the recipe title selected, click on the "link" tool as shown in the image above (step #4). This brings up the link dialog box as shown.

Place your cursor in the URL field, right-click and select "paste" from the drop-down menu (Windows) to insert the recipe link that you copied to the clipboard in step #3 (Windows). Then hit OK to insert the link into your blog post.

  6. This changes your selected recipe title in your blog post to a link that points to the recipe.

  7. Be sure to save your blog post, "Save" button at the bottom of the blog post edit form.

Not quite as easy and convenient as hitting the "favorites" button, but not difficult once you get the hang of it. Other members in your family group can view the blog post and visit the recipe links that you share. They can also leave comments and add their own links to recipes they'd like to share. You can also edit and update the blog post and continue to add more recipe links and comments later on, keep a running journal so to speak.

Hope that helps.
