My User Profile - Overview and Introduction
Each member with a registered account at Family Recipe Central has their own area on the web site that belongs to them. We'll refer to this by several names including "User Account", "Member Account", "User Profile", "My Profile".When you're logged in, you always have a your "User Account" navigation menu in view at the top of the left-hand sidebar. For these examples, we'll use the "heykiddo" account.
If you click on the "My profile" link at the top of your user account navigation box, you'll bring up your user profile.
Think of this as your user home page.
From here, you can view key information about your account, as well as change your user settings.
At the moment, heykiddo doesn't have many details on his user account home page.
As a better example (because heykiddo hasn't done much yet, and doesn't have much to display yet), here's a view of a different member's user profile that has more details on their user home page view.
There are many different things you can do within your user account including adding recipes, post to your user blog, upload images and photos to your user gallery, make connections with other members, keep track of your favorites around the site, and much more ...
When you start to do more of these activities at Family Recipe Central, you'll see a more detailed summary of your user information from your "My profile" home page as in this example shown to the left.
When you view your own user profile, you have a quick summary of most of the items and activities you'll want to see.
- User photo and length of membership
- Your biographical "About Me" block
- Pending Relationships - Sent and Received requests
- My personal blog summary block
- My personal recipes block
- A list of "your favorites" block
- Your image galleries block
- My videos block
- Contact info block
When other members view your user profile, they see less information about you than you see from your own private view.
The public view of your user profile is limited to less information to protect others from seeing items you'll want to keep private.
- User photo and length of membership
- Your biographical "About Me" block
- Relationships - your relationships with this member
- My personal blog summary block
