Mom would visit us for days at a time in Rome. While I worked, Joe kept mom company—or was a 'beeper'  away.

She called Joe on the beeper one day and asked him to pick up 'a couple of things' on his way home. Joe decided it was better to pick her up and let her shop for herself. Mom told Joe, "Let's surprise Joe tonight". Joe knew he was in trouble! Mom chose tomato soup and elbow macaroni---for Baked Macaroni. At supper, Joe dutifully ate his baked macaroni and I just grinned and ate it too.
