Pastries and Pies
She would tell us stories of her own childhood and her father as we worked at the kitchen table. Each time she showed us how to make macaroni dough, she made a big fuss over being sure that there was a “well” of dry ingredients, to which she added the eggs. When it came time to knead the dough; push, and turn with the heel of you hand and she would whisper, ”This is where you add the secret ingredient”. And as she made the Sign of the Cross on the dough with her finger, she’d say “Benedic. Don’t forget to put in the Love.”
It worked Ma, The circle is complete. I still do it and I’ve already passed it on to your grandchildren.
