Merry Christmas 2009

The strength of any family lies in the sum of its parts.  So, too, the legacy of a family is most powerful as each member's contribution is honored as a part of a patchwork whole.

This year, when so many of us are able to gather together to share the holiday season, it seems appropriate to acknowledge the many people from the past and present and to share a part of their legacy for the future. These recipes, photos and stories are merely a sampling, a taste of innumerable moments in time that have and will continue to shape us.  They represent our communal heritage and reflect our combined cultures and traditions from generations past and present--Cuban, Italian, Polish, Australian, Belgian, German, English, Scottish and many more.  All these are experienced through the lens of life in the United States.

Hopefully, this small collection will continue and grow to represent many more special moments and fond memories in the future.
