Introduction to the 2018 edition

This is the 'second edition' of Mom’s recipe collection. We did the first in 1991. Since then we’ve made some corrections, found a few new recipes to include and decided to remove some that no one ever uses.

The goal here is of course to keep Mom’s memory alive through her cooking and to pass down those memories to grandchildren, and now, even great-grandchildren. I’ve included the chapter opening remarks from the older cookbook just as they appeared in that one. Even if you have been using the cookbook for years, go to those header pages and re-read what we all wrote. There are some wonderful memories for all of us, especially those newer family member and friends who have come along since 1991.

You must be sure to mention Mom and Dad too whenever you gather and celebrate with something made from the recipes that follow. There really is a bit of family history baked into these pages. Mention is made of various Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends and Neighbors. Only the pets were left out...wait a minute, we didn’t have any pets! Oh well.

Mangia filia, enjoy and share.
